Bibi van Leeuwen (22) is an illustrator and comic book artist based in the Netherlands. Growing up she lost herself in the beauty of fairytales, myths and folklore. It inspired her love for creating stories and bringing characters to life on paper. Her journey to becoming an illustrator in the book industry took a serious turn when she applied in 2017 to AKV ST. Joost, an art school in Den Bosch. She studied the art of illustration and animation, and graduated in 2022 with a bachelors degree in illustrated & animated storytelling.
She illustrated her first comic book Dwaallicht during an internship with a Dutch publisher, Dutch Venture Publishing, and knew this was what she wanted to do with her life. Not long after she illustrated her debut graphic novel she got the opportunity to illustrate her first book cover: the Dutch translation of Huntress by Malinda Lo, which was a dream come true. Currently she’s working on a new, exciting graphic novel project!
In her free time Bibi likes to browse her enormous bookshelfs for her next adventure or write her own stories if she can’t find her next read. She loves everything magical and she made it her mission to show other people the magic in reality.
She’s worked with bookish box So Many Pages, Publishing house Dutch Venture Publishing and multiple authors.
